“Recognize there is an order to this vast universe that transcends our ability to comprehend. There is something that goes far beyond the circumstances and conditions of our lives. There is something that transcends the devastation and despair of our human reality. I invite you to surrender into this unknown, unseen realm.” – Lola Wright
It is the end of the calendar year. We are in the season of holy days. We are in the season of the dark. And this calendar year, perhaps more than any that we have lived through before, has brought forward all of our struggles, our breakdowns, and our challenges.
The Find Your Fierce & Loving podcast is intended to support you in your own evolution, awakening, and expansion. Each month, in service of that, I will deliver a powerful interview with an inspiring human being, I will give you a few solo episodes with just you and me, and I will lead us in an immersive experience. Today, I will lead you through a meditation that deeply honors loss, the unknown, the unexpected.
Show Notes
This year we have navigated great loss, great transition, and great trauma. In this mediation, I invite you to scan your memory and bring forward anything that’s calling your attention, that lives in the realm of dreams, desires, and expectations for this past year. As we soften, we create more space, we become curious, available, and open to the infinite interpretations of our life experiences.
In this episode of Find Your Fierce & Loving, we navigate this threshold into a new year with the support of this vast universe that is in you and all around you. I will guide you through a meditation that deeply honors loss, the unknown, and the unexpected. And now I invite you to find a comfortable, still space and to give yourself the gift of slowing down. May we be available to see all of the good that is around us in every given moment.

[00:00:02] Personal transformation and collective awakening involve being the most alive, brilliant, inspired, creative, on-fire version of yourself. A version that is not consistent with the status quo. My name is Lola Wright and this is Find Your Fierce and Loving. This podcast is a wake up call, a roadmap back to your holy purpose, an invitation to set fire to the box you’ve been living in and watch it burn.
[00:00:40] So here we are it is the end of the calendar year. We’re at a point of completion. A time where we can tap into collective consciousness and get really intentional. We are in the season of holy days, we are in the season of the dark. And this calendar year, perhaps more than any that we have lived through before, has brought forward all of our struggles, our breakdowns and our challenges. This year, we have navigated great loss, great transition, great drama, great trauma. And so I don’t say that to fan the flame but rather to acknowledge the impact of what we have lived through.
[00:01:45] And so it may be that your life has been largely stable. Perhaps you are among a group of people that have been profoundly fortunate to be able to maintain your income, your job, your family members, your comfort. And if that is you, I just encourage you to consider that in spite of the fact that you have not felt an acute and direct impact to the devastation and loss that we have experienced this year, that by virtue of being connected to all of existence, you two have experienced a loss.
[00:02:28] And for those of us that have had direct impact. The loss of income, the loss of job security, the loss of family members or friends, the loss of a future we thought we had. I invite you in as well.
[00:02:47] Wherever you are on this spectrum of experience throughout the calendar year of 2020, I want to invite you into our own completion practice. Today, we’re going to do a kind of meditation that deeply honors loss, the unknown, the unexpected.
[00:03:12] So I invite you to do this meditation when you are available to slow down and sit still. Oftentimes, we will use activity to numb ourselves from feeling the dis-ease, the discomfort, the pain, the hurt that is so profoundly palpable when we stop, when we sit still, when we slow down.
[00:03:47] So just know if you’re joining me in today’s meditation practice, whatever comes up for you is welcome here. What you may experience could be your direct impact or it could be a kind of empathic impact from the collective. So just allow yourself to feel.
[00:04:12] And with that, I invite you to begin to deepen the breath into the belly, breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth, bringing your eyes closed, if that’s comfortable for you.
[00:04:33] As you deepen the breath into the belly, invite the shoulders to fall, the belly to soften. Begin to scan your body from the crown of your head, paying particular attention to the brow, inviting the brow to soften, bringing your awareness to your jaw inviting the jaw to relax.
[00:05:05] You may choose to create space between your top and bottom teeth resting the tongue on the bottom inside of the mouth, turning the corners of the mouth up. And deepening the broth into the belly. Again, inviting the shoulders to fall, the breath to deepen, the belly to soften. If there are any adjustments that you want to make to your physical body, now is a great time to do that.
[00:05:44] Perhaps you’d like to lay down. Perhaps you’d like to get a pillow or a blanket. Make any adjustments that you would like such that you can fully surrender into the stillness.
[00:06:22] I invite you to scan your memory, your mind. Begin to bring forward anything that’s calling your attention that lives in the realm of dreams, desires, expectations for this past year.
[00:06:51] What did you imagine this season of life looking like? What did you expect was going to come? As you bring your awareness to the expectations, the dreams, the intentions that you had for this past calendar year begin to notice any construction, any contraction, any bracing or gripping, any sense of loss, heartbreak.
[00:07:42] You may also feel a sense of excitement and enthusiasm, perhaps there were things that you anticipated would occur in this past calendar year that ended up unfolding in ways you could not imagine. Give yourself permission to feel the full range of expectancy of attachment, of assumption that you held for this past year.
[00:08:28] Bring your awareness to the wisdom of the body, the wisdom of your feelings, and allow whatever anger, sadness, fear, joy or creativity that may be here now. Allow yourself to call forward any resentments, any hurt, any criticism or unforgiveness that you feel or sense may be still with you. What people, places or things have you set outside of your heart? What have you placed in exile?
[00:09:35] Perhaps your own inner critic. Perhaps a family member or friend, a business partner or neighbor? What are you resisting? What are you condemning? Allow yourself to feel the full range of judgment. The full range of hurt. Watch for the tendency to recycle. The story that maintains all of that, no need to do that today.
[00:10:44] For now, we’re giving place and space. For anything that needs and wants to be completed. What is it that has gone other than the way you imagined, desired or intended in 2020? Would you allow yourself to bring it forward so that you may cultivate a sense of deep peace with it?
[00:11:22] Our practice today is about allowing anything that remains in the unconscious, the shadows. Anything that has been exiled to come forward, to be seen, to be known, to be acknowledged, to be honored. We call this forward not to indulge our pain but rather to move into a state of sobriety where we allow all of us to be present. We’re calling forward an integration of the south. The maturation of our soul requires this integration.
[00:12:31] So just see is there anything else? That you notice feeling resistant to how it unfolded. Who are you blaming and criticizing? Perhaps never saying a word, but you feel it in your body and if we could hear your inner voice blaming and criticizing yourself, those around you or those on the screen of life? Who would we hear on repeat in your mind? So you bring them forward, see if you can invite yourself to soften, to relax, to loosen your grip of righteousness.
[00:13:40] We enter into this practice of loosening not to condone, not to support, not to endorse the experiences that we’ve had. Not to cosign the behaviors that we wish were other than they are, but rather to neutralize their presence in our body and our being.
[00:14:19] We deepen our practice to relax our grip on struggle. So deepen your breath and to your belly, allow your resistance to melt away. Begin to sense a kind of spaciousness. A lightness. So long as we are resisting that which we don’t prefer, so long as we are caught in condemnation, we find ourselves in a suffering loop. So we soften our grip, we relax our righteousness, and we begin to create space for something new to emerge.
[00:15:50] As we soften, as we loosen, as we create more space we become curious, available, open to the infinite interpretations of any of our life experiences. We sense in to our strength, our fortitude, our stamina. Realizing that we are perfectly constructed for change, for evolution, for expansion.
[00:17:00] Deepening the breath into the belly, recognizing that there is an order to this vast universe that transcends our ability to comprehend, we relax into this order trusting that life is working for us. There is something that goes far beyond the circumstances and conditions of our lives. There is something that transcends the devastation and despair. Our human reality. I invite you to surrender into this unknown, this unseen realm and allow yourself to breathe more deeply.
[00:18:19] Sense the openness of your chest. The flexibility and malleability of your mind to tap into imagination and creativity. Here you are in this dimension of reality at this time in the evolution of human consciousness. Not by accident or coincidence. Navigating the circumstances and conditions that you find yourself in. So we tap into this unknown and unseen realm. A secret place of the most high that is at the center of your being. We allow ourselves to be consumed by grace. May Grace have its way with me today? May Grace have its way in all of my affairs? May grace relax my attachment, my righteousness, my control. May Grace relieve me of the need to know what’s next.
[00:20:20] I invite you to rest easy in this state of surrender. Allowing yourself to navigate this threshold into a new year. With the support of this vast universe that is in you and all around you. Rest easy. Allow life to work through you. Live with your palms made open. Contribute wholly. Activate love. And receive the love that has returned to you many times over. May we be available to see all of the good that is all around us in every given moment.
[00:21:37] Taking a deep breath and through your nose and out through your mouth, perhaps beginning to wiggle the fingers and the toes, shifting your body, and realizing that this calendar year that we are completing has been a necessary awakening. A heartbreaking exposure. A provocation into what’s possible. When you’re ready, go ahead and open your eyes.
[00:22:28] Happy New Year and happy New Year.
